Since buying my first iPod Touch last year I find that I am increasingly interacting with
companies I regularly do business with in a whole new way: via apps.
The phrase "we have an app for that" could very well become "you BETTER have an app for that"
if the trends continue.
Consider the fact that on January 5th of 2010, Apple
announced
they had just passed the 3 billion app downloads mark.
According to a wrap up
review of 2009 by Pingdom.com,
there are 1.73 billion internet users worldwide. Based on these numbers, enough apps have
been downloaded to service every single one of those users in some fashion or another.
Still dont think it's a big deal?
Just last week it is widely reported that the search engine BING
it is in talks with Apple to push Google out as being the default search engine on the iPhone/iPod
touch devices. You HAVE to be in front of the users, where they are at that exact moment or
potential sales/interactions are lost to a competitor.
Smart phones and devices are changing the way we talk AND shop and those who do not embrace the
new landscape could get run over by that snowball from hell called change.
So if your a business owner without an app my suggestion to you is go hire that nerdy kid
who used to mow your lawn and oogle your daughter who is now a computer progammer guru making six
figures and have them make you an "app for that!"
Just say'n...
