During our local
4th of July parade my 4 year old son was handed two flyers to join local cub Scout groups, or
as my son called them "club scouts". Unfortunately, even though myself and my two brothers participated
in scouting and my eldest brother went on to become an Eagle Scout, I will NOT be letting my son join. Why? Scoutings
anti-gay stance.
I hate to break it to you
Boy Scouts of America but you had and probably still have, a lot of gay people
in your organization. In my troop we had 1 guy that later "came out". Big deal. It's not like the guy was asking people to
go sneak into the bushes with him so he could practice mouth to mouth for his first aid merit badge.
Honestly people. What's the big fricken deal? As far as I can tell, the only different between someone who is "gay"
and "straight" is who you happen to want to sleep with. Really, if your waisting your life worrying about the gay couple down the street
then I think you have a lot bigger problems in your life.
I suppose it's certainly within their right to be a anti-gay club if they want to be but every since the organization "came out" about
their policy, then I came up with my own stance of being anti-boy scouts. I no longer donate to boy scouts taking donations for ANY
cause or event. And I certainly wont be letting my son partipate in their non-inclusion thinking.
No club scouts for you!!
The organization is
taking heat all over the United States, which I think is a good thing.
