Opinions about movies are like assholes...everybody has one. Because of this I find it odd that people are still making
a living being paid for their opinions about movies.
Now dont get me wrong. . Take
Siskel and Ebert for example. The problem I have, and it is not really a problem, is the only reason I watched their TV show was NOT
because of them and their opinions, but becuase they shows clips and trailers for the movies. Let's face it. Movie trailers themselves
have become an art form over the years and they can often make/break a movies success in the theaters.
The thing about movie critiques that has always bothered me is that they simply pan movies that I'm going to go and see, and that are
often summer blockbusters. Take for example the lastest Transformers movie. Apparently a rather large number of
reviews are totally
trashing the movie. So what does this mean? Does it mean the movie REALLY is that bad or the snob critiques just dont like
this type of movie? A good number of Arnold and Sylvester movies got shot down by reviewers yet I got to see them and like them "for what they are".
In the end I dont think it really matters what movie critiques say about movies at all. People decide, and rightly so, what they
do and do not like based upon their own thoughts and opinions.
Sorry, but in the end I think most movie critiques are a waste.
