For some odd reason I've just found myself wonder if firework sales are going to be a boom or bust this season?
With the economy sputtering along we have seen people cut back on large ticket item such as cars and homes and the gourmet
coffee market, starbucks, has seen it's once cash cow get ground up a bit.
My thought is that sales will actually be good, if not better then normal as people have extra cash laying around and they need
a bit of a diversion and escape from the harsh realities around us. And lets face it, what better way to is there to release
stress them to blow crap up!
I found
this article dates July 7 2008 that
suggests I might be on to something. Several firework stand operators think more people will be staying around home so they
will have more income to blow on entertainment, and the 4th of july is a date when friends and family get together so
why not throw a bang up of a party!
I would take a moment to caution anyone reading this not to take
firework safety lightly. Many people, mostly kids, suffer serious
burns and loss of fingers every season, mostly due to poor handling of said devices. Fireworks can be fun, when
treated with caution and respect. They should only be handled by adults or when supervised BY adult. I could tell the
story of my friends house being set on fire because his dork neighbors were setting off illegal bottle rockets if that
would help people realize these things are not toys.
