Last week I
read a story on BBC News how the makers
of
Mars Bars,
Snickers Bars, and
Twix Bars were going to start using some sort
of animal product called "
rennet". I was finally going to blog about that this weekend, and in doing so just found
another article where
the company has reversed this decision and is going to stay away from the animal product due to a large number of consumer complaints.
Thank goodness. I am certainly no vegeterian, but from the moment I read that article I kid you not, I did not buy a single mars or
twix candy bar out of the vending machine at work! While this story was UK based, I did not know if it also affected the U.S. market as
well. I've shot off an email to the company to find out if the U.S. versions of the candy have this item in it. I'll post a follow up at the
end of this posting once I get a reply.
